Useful Linux Clustering Links

This page is a collection of various links and resources that are very useful in building and/or maintaining a Linux cluster, but didn't really fit into the specifications of any one type of cluster.

For a list of sites that are devoted to clustering news and information, you should also take a look a the Clustering Information and News Sites page that we have (it is also listed under the Etc... button in the menu on the left).

  • The Alliance: The National Computational Science Alliance is a nationwide partnership of academic, government, and business institutions working to create an advanced computational infrastructure called the Grid. The Alliance site and more information can be found throughout NCSA's website.

  • EOT-PACI: EOT-PACI (Education, Outreach, and Training Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) is dedicated to making emerging technologies accessible to learners and educators at all levels. They have some interesting links to some interesting resources and projects being worked on by the group and partner institutions.

  • Freshmeat: Freshmeat maintains the web's largest index of Linux and Open Source software. It contains information and links to the sites of thousands of applications.

  • Furbeowulf Cluster Computing: I think the name says it all.

  • The Grid Report: The Grid Report is a comprehensive news and information site for Grid computing, with links, news stories, information about conferences, and more.

  • IBM Linux Technology Center: Home to such projects as JFS, LUI, and OpenAFS, the Linux Technology's Center is IBM's attempt to give back to the Open Source community by working with it to develop and maintain various software projects.

  • IEEE Task Force on Cluster Computing: The TFCC is an international forum promoting cluster computing research and education. It participates in helping to set up and promote technical standards in this area.

  • Linux.com: Linux.com's mission is to enrich the Linux community by providing a centralized place for individuals of all experience levels to learn (and teach) the power and virtues of Linux.

  • LinuxBazis: LinuxBazis is a portal that has hundreds of links to various aspects of Linux, from other Linux portals, distros, documentation, software, books, and more.

  • Linux for S/390: This page is the home of IBM's port of Linux to the S/390 architecture.

  • The Linux Kernel Archives: Here's the place to look for new Linux kernels, as well as various other software that they house.

  • Linux Online!: Linux Online! is a portal for general Linux information.

  • Linux Weekly News: "Dedicated to keeping Linux users up-to-date."

  • Maui High Performance Computing Center: The MHPCC is a Center of the University of New Mexico.

  • NCSA: The National Computational Science Alliance at the University of Illinois, Urbana, is a good resource for general clustering and supercomputing resources.

  • NPACI: The mission of NPACI (National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) is to advance science by creating a ubiquitous, continuous, and pervasive national computational infrastructure: the Grid.

  • Open Cluster Framework: The Open Cluster Framework Project (OCF) is a group of people interested in defining a set of standard clustering APIs for some basic capabilities. The project is in its fairly early stages, and is very much open to participation.

  • OSC: OSC (Ohio Supercomputing Center) is a center for high performance computing resources available to to the state/regional community.

  • PACI: PACI (Partnerships for Advanced Computational Infrastructure) supports two partnerships -- NCSA (at lead site U. of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign), and SDSC (at lead site UCSD), each with many partners. PACI provides a foundation/common ground for these groups to be able to try to meet the expanding need for high performance computing resources.

  • SDSC: SDSC (San Diego Supercomputing Center) lives at UCSD, and, among other things, is very involved with NPACI.

  • Slashdot: Slashdot is "News for Nerds. Stuff that Matters." It is a site for the Open Source community to view news that interests them, and talk about the stories posted.
